Classroom experience

The University of Western Australia Boot Camps combine informative lectures with individual and collaborative team exercises. You will work independently and in groups, in the classroom and at home. Homework assignments provide an opportunity to apply what you’ve learned and take your skills to the next level – this is key to truly mastering the topics covered. The goal is to give you a comprehensive learning experience and true insight into a “day in the life” of a full stack developer, cybersecurity analyst, or data professional.
Learning a new skill set is tough work, and in our programs, we find it’s easier for students to learn the fundamentals through hands-on instruction. That’s why we provide an intimate virtual classroom environment with a low trainer to student ratio. In addition to our skilled trainers, our knowledgeable tutors provide extensive support in the classroom.
I chose to attend to supplement my theoretical security knowledge with some transferable practical skills. However, during the program my PhD was officially postponed due to COVID, so it became more apparent that this course was going to be more than simple learning – it could be a way to future-proof my career. I found I was really enjoying the course and I wanted to get more involved with learning about the IT field and then I started applying for jobs after going through the milestones with the career consultants. The rest is history – I graduated from my cybersecurity course and within 24 hours, I had a job offer from the IT department of a global law firm that is setting up a new IT support role in my city. The best part – I can work remotely!
